William Whatley is a socially engaged photographer striving to work amongst communities and groups to reveal, and amplify voices of those who aren’t heard enough. Intending to work in a manner that takes context and ethics of photography to an equal level of importance that subject matter holds. As part of an emerging tradition of documentary photographers to whom ethics are becoming more valuable to their practice, he has distanced from anonymous documentary work that can sometimes lend to people being perceived as ‘other’, Whatley prefers to integrate and collaborate with whomever has a story to tell.
